Saying goodbye to someone you love is never easy, and during such an emotional time, making decisions can feel overwhelming. Choosing the right place to remember and honour a life is deeply personal, yet the options can sometimes feel limited.
While funeral services are often held in a church or crematorium, these settings may not always feel right, be available, or reflect the wishes of the person being remembered or those closest to them. In moments of grief, it can be comforting to know there is another option—a peaceful alternative where a life can be celebrated in a way that feels right for you and your family.
At Antrobus House, we offer a truly welcoming home-from-home setting, where families and friends can come together in comfort and peace. With clean and modern facilities throughout and beautiful grounds that invite gentle moments of reflection, Antrobus House provides a calm and meaningful place to gather. Conveniently located close to the A303, we are easy to reach, and our large private car park offers ample free on-site parking.
From your first enquiry to the moment you leave, our dedicated events team will be there to support and care for you. We will guide you gently through every step, ensuring everything runs smoothly and that your loved one is remembered with the warmth, dignity, and celebration they deserve.
the edmund hall
The Edmund Hall, with its beautiful floor to ceiling windows, sparkling chandeliers and sumptuous drapes is a light and inviting space that feels both spacious and intimate. It can accommodate up to 100 guests for a service (seated) or up to 150 guests for an informal reception (mainly standing, with some seating available). When the weather allows, guests are also welcome to spend time on our front lawn or rear terrace—quiet spaces to pause, reflect, and share memories together.
The Edmund Hall is on the ground floor and is fully accessible - ideal for a service and/or a reception.
venue hire
We are able to host funeral services and/or wakes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays (subject to availability). On Tuesdays the hall is not available until 2pm.
If guest numbers are likely to exceed 100, additional staff members may be required to help ensure the smooth running of your event. We will advise if this is necessary and quote accordingly. We explain more in our brochure, but to give you a rough idea of our fees - please take a look at the options below.

You will need to allow 20-25 minutes for the room to be reset from the service to the wake. During this time guests will be invited to vacate the Edmund Hall and either move outside (weather-permitting) or take a short break in the Lady Florence Room upstairs (subject to availability).

We can organise catering on your behalf. A 'memorial tea' typically includes a selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, cheese straws, cakes and scones with jam and cream. If you would like a more substantial hot/cold buffet or a sit down meal, we can explore options for you.

Alternatively, you are welcome to provide your own cold food.
